Hi my diesel 2A chucks out bucket loads of white smoke on cold start, if I it drive a few hundered metres it clears, I think its an over fueling problem as the water level as never dropped to suggest head gasket, and received no loss in power.

I wondered if anyone knew if the 2a has a cold start enrichment valve or the like? So far its had a new fuel filter (Badly soiled) new injectors X4, and a timing chain kit inc tensioner and slippers as this was noisey and felt it was advancing the timing, and several fuel system flushes, the only other smoke it puts out is a slight bit of blue on over run which i assume is the valve guide seals.

Thanks for looking hope someone can help

Jack

If you talk in imperial units we might be interested:doh::doh::doh:

don't know if i leave it on tick over from cold start it gets so bad you can't see it in the end  it would fill the estate up. doesnt seem right to me.

My S3 does that too. Never seems to burn any oil which usually is the cause of white smoke.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think it's just a Landy thing.

Mine also does this - obviously much worse in the cold like this morning. She doesn't lose water or burn oil. I just get a little smoke when I load the engine pullung away at traffic lights etc. but no more than you would expect from a primitive diesel engine I think. It's not blue so don't think it's valve seals.
I've gradually come to the conclusion with these old wagons that you should only be concerned if they don't make any noise at all!
