Slow throttle defender Td5

Defender throttle issue Td5 1999


I’m having issues with my Td5’s throttle, it seems to be a little hesitant.

It feels as if it is under load. once the jeep is in Motion it seems to drive fine, I seem to need to blip the throttle to get revs up and then later becomes responsive.

It just seems to be occasionally lazy and when I try and accelerate.

The throttle pedal has been changed along side a new wiring harness from the ecu back to the pedal as it seems these can cause issues.


Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be turbo actuator jammed partially open, the TD5 is pretty gutless until the turbo gets spun up
 
I will ignore the "Jeep" comment as someone far more militant will be along shortly to properly chastise you for it.

The ecu to pedal harness is not the loom that causes issues with the ecu. that is the injector wiring harness what when the seals fail allows oil to track back into the ecu causing problems. Even if this has been replaced as well there may still be oil tracking back that is left over in the cabling as @saxavordian suggested.

First I would check the ECU block again as you could have still residual oil fouling the electronic. Also I may be wrong put the accelerator pedal is plugged into the system.

I’ll take that one on the chin… my bad! So I’ve cleaned both plugs that go into to the ecu with contact cleaner as well as the ecu and left to dry before putting back.
I’ve read a few things about the Maf’s/ MAP sensor causing issues, would the Maf still be in use if the EGR had been blanked?
I did have a mate of mine plug it in a few months back and it had a high speed crank sensor code come up, again I’m not initially sure where to start with it l
