Slipping clutch. Adjust it??

Had the 300TDi 90 for a few weeks now and noticed that the clutch seems to slip a little in top when accelerating on the motorway...anything over 50mph or so.

The vehicle was "supposed" to have had a new clutch fitted about 6K miles ago so, unless someone is telling porkies, I don't think it will be general wear.

Has anyone got any suggestions of what may be the cause and is it possible for me to adjust the clutch perhaps??

TIA for any responses. :)

New to the cult, but... on the old 110 I have, the clutch is not only easy to adjust, but tweaking it gives great driveability. Check the fluid level first. but the Haynes manual (from Halfrauds) is your friend. Describes it very well, and is a sound investment.

But. before you go there, make sure that the floor mats aren't fouling the pedal travel. There is not much margin for error in a Landy.

HOW?

Suppose if it had a new clutch then there is the possibility that there is oil leaking from the gearbox onto the plate, or perhaps the release bearing is sticking on the spigot shaft and not releasing fully. Not quite sure how to get a look at this but can you take the slave cylinder off and operate it to check that its moving back off the pressure plate. I guess if it is then there should be no reason for it to slip, unless when the slave is fitted then it applies pressure causing a partial release of the plate.

Any way to check if it did get a new clutch, recon, full kit or part. See if you can get the person to tell you where he bought the clutch, then call them and see what they say.

But as the other threads suggest check the adjusment first, but I'm not sure if there is any so sorry can't help you there.

David...thanks for a sane response. :D

Ah'm beginning to think that it could be oil contamination as it pulls very well in every other gear on any incline. Tis only when I've been on the motorway that I get it slipping a little in top. Guessing, but think it may be leaking slightly once the gearbox oil gets very hot.

i don't think yer release bearing can get stuck on the shaft. yer might have an oil leak but shirley who ever did yer clutch would have spotted it.
i seem to remember something about the forks getting bent on certain models . so that might be a possibility.

yer welcome, and your right there are a few lunatics on here, but it adds to the fun I guess, sometimes.
