I have new BF Goodrich tyres on my 90 Defender. I find that the rear end still slides out at very slow speed...3/4mph on green lanes.

Is this normal? Tyres not good? Am I doing something wrong regarding engaging the appropriate gear on the 4x4 box?

If you have diff lock on then that will effect cornering as the diffs can't slip as they normally would do on a corner but I wouldn't say it should be sliding much at that speed. Get someone to drive behind you or get someone to drive yours round a corner on a green lane to have a proper look at it. If it is muddy enough you will get some slide with the diff lock on.

seems a bit vague to me.

are we talking about powerslide, or just drivng around a corner on tickover? or are we talking about the back end slipping on a side slope?

how is the car loaded? loads of gear in the back, non at all? winch on the front?

what tyre pressures?
