Well today’s project went well, then I realised the USB sockets have an LED permanently lit! Can anyone tell me how to work out the power consumption for it? Wondering whether to put them on a switch or if it won’t be any worse than the immobiliser LED

Lol, probably the only electronics on it! Cheers, you never know what these Chinese things do.

I had one of those annoying little lights on a switch for my spot lights, I was as worried as you! I ended up wiring the switch through the headunit signal cable just to be sure. So made it a switched live.

I thought about that and while everything’s still out from installing a flip out radio Bluetooth satnav thing I might well do it

I have done the same for my EGT readout, does mean I have to have the lights on to read the EGT tho...o_O

Leaving it perm live.Only real risk i see, is if you leave something plugged in , such as a CB for a few weeks.....................:oops:

Cheers...

Thats why I said use the signal feed for the head unit, can wire that to a relay and so forth. Lil long winded and annoying I know. Though its exactly why I chose unlit 12vs, ive got 5 in my 110 all perm lives.

My cigar lighter powers itself, the radio aerial/GPS and two usbs between the rear wash and cigar lighter. The other stuff I’ve added is permanent live on a separate fuse box from the battery, things like the rear spots, beacon, interior lighting. All low power stuff (LED). While I’ve got everything hanging out I could sort out an ignition feed off the radio for the future. One thing that will definitely want it is the tracker which has been sat in its box for a year!

Yep, this is what I've done too, signal feed from head unit to a relay in the back that has a live feed direct from the battery. The only downside now is that I can't use the sockets in the back unless I have the head unit on, and I mean really on, not just power to it from ignition.

Considered changing the relay trigger to the ignition feed, but then I'll just be moaning that I have to have the keys in and turned to use the sockets...

So, I'm going to add in a 3 way switch that can be a relay override option.

Of course, at some point I'll leave it on and zap the battery overnight.
