Bit of an odd one. Started the p38 up yesterday and it said gearbox fault. It works through all the gears and theres plenty of fluid in. So i turned him off, then on again and fault had gone??:confused:

Then my mrs started playing with the seats (while ignition was at position 2, not turned on) and it said "alternator fault", but then again, it only happened once and it hasnt been on again.

Could be battery, or could be a sign of bad earth or other connections. Check the battery terminals are clean and tight. Plenty of threads on this site about bad earths etc.

Sounds like a battery problem, mine turned over slowly & then showed gearbox fault/traction failure so i swapped batteries & all faults cleared.Just looking around to find a more powerful battery that will fit into the tray....340w x 175d x 200h any ideas?

Same problem just last month: engine cranked but not starting then 30 mins later starting as normal. Sometimes showed "traction failure" or other messages. Was a weak batt. Wrote about it in here somewhere.
