Showering inside a 110 Defender during winter time

Hei there , i ma trying to figure out how i can take a hot shower inside my 110 defender while winter camping .Other than driling a whole in the floor and doing the evacuation for the grey watter from the shower is ther a way to not wet the hole back cabin?:))
 
You could fix a 500 gallon tank to the roof supported by some scaffold poles in tyhe back that you could hang a shower curtain on You could install/have a pipe running from the water jacket outlet on the top of the engine through an old hot water tank coil and back to the cabin heater to keep things nice and toasty. Then you could put a small pump (like a Grundfos STR2), which you could run off an invertor or a small generator, to power the shower. If you mounted the shower head to the back of the passenger seat and parked on a steep hill you'd just need to open the back door, no need for a whole hole anywhere, the water would just run out.
You'd need to run the engine for a while to get the water hot enough and to keep the battery charged.

Let us know how you get on and send in some pictures.
 
i already have watter tank with a 12v watter pump mounted inside under the lateral back seat and a n invertor under the drivers seat.my only issue is how can i take a shower inside witout getting watter allover the interior...has anyone ha a shower inside a defender 110 during winter and wht was the setup like?if the interior would be bigger i d install a shower tent but the space is so small and doesn t let me.it s funny but the only ideea that comes up to my mind is have something like a hole in the floor to clear the watter coming from the shower and to take the shower in a plastic or rubber bag that would have the lower end fitted in the exit hole in the flore so i d evacuate the grey watter and have the shower in that bag:))),it sounds funny but i think it would work hahhaha.the shower i have to take inside because outside it s -12 Celsius :))

why frozen? i have a webasto ,if i run it i can take the temperature at 28 Celsius

And the condensation from the shower inside the tratter will rust/rot out the old thing in no time at all. Why not just boil water and hand wash when winter camping, like any sensible soul...then shower when back home. Many mountain refuges have basic washing facilities of some sort. We plan our routes to drive/hike to refuges if staying out overnight in winter months.

You'd be better off using the tratter to carry potable/wash water, heat water and hand wash, and retain internal space for load carrying/sleeping.

that s true , you have a point,condensation ,yes...i was wondering if anyone of the 110 model invented a solution for this...but i guess no.
 
Why not just shower outside, its so much easier, get warm water from webasto/engine heater and just dry off in the vehicle. You could have a pull down shower curtain at the back if you wanted.

Anything is possible.

had to read this got me thinking, but yea I would just suggest using the hot water in a bowl method, you can make a cuppa at the same time. But if you ever do figure it out with the bag, hole in the floor method let me know o_O. Not sure how the other half would take it if I told her to show in the bag :eek:

At -12 Celsius?i have a Spot in the mountains where i can wildcamp after i snowboard and if i m staying 2 Weeks or more it s dificult to go every day in the village for a shower ,the curtain and showering outside is absolutly imposibile since it s very very cold.

Hahahaha as long as it s eficient and u Take a warm shower and your clean every day than i have nothing against Wrapping myself in a plastic bag hahahhaa

Because showering outside in -12degsC daytime temps can be a dangerous activity for most folk. I've been winter mountaineering for many years and the one thing that mullers people/saps energy/brings early onset of pneumonia is sharp exposure to cold/hot/cold cycled temperatures. It can take the inner body a long time to recover up to standard outdoor body temps especially when overnight temps drop to -25degC or lower. Conventional hygiene goes out of the window in these conditions, hence hand washing only. It's always best to maintain constant body temperatures using correct layered clothing,...then shower when back home/to hotel. Winter mountain camping is not for the unprepared...it can all go wrong very quickly ;)

I get it but asking to shower in a vehicle and use it for anything but... is like taking a trip in a submarine and asking if they can open the window to get some airflow in here...
-12 is nothing and you wouldn't be in it without the hot water.... Swedish regularly go from Sauna to ice lakes as a health BENEFIT...If you stripped off and into the shower, dried and out I dont think your body temp would drop.

Yes if you sat outside at -12 for many minutes but that's not showering is it..... well unless you are my wife that is..
 
Outside warm shower, dry and warm inside. Minus 12 isn't cold if the water is warm. Dry efficiently and get back in the warm vehicle sharply. If it were me I'd get a brew ready before hand too. Similar to this but without the view

I'd not wanna do it every day but it's doable. I wouldn't want a shower in a landrover ever.
 
Condenastion will be your biggest issue.
We have a small boat wth a very very small shower room, and it condensates the whole boat up real bad even after a quick shower, luckily we have a dehumidifier.
