I'd rather the manufacturers pur R&D into security rather than integrated in car entertainment and driver aids skill removers, but it seems security isn't important!! maybe because so many cars are pleased today, rather than owned

Strange how the folks who have them stolen do not shout about how the fitted locks etc, especially on Fenders were smashed off, soundst o me like they did not have aftermarket locks fitted.
As for the later models, the keyfobs being hacked are aknown problem , so why are people not using the little bags that stop the fob being hacked?
Sounds like people are just being lazy and then whining about it.

Motor used to be second biggest purchase behind the house. Now folk think nowt of spending 50,60,£100k on a family car and if it gets stolen you just buy another.
They have just become disposable items.

The issue is caused by numerous factors. The end of the old model being produced has caused a shortage of defenders being broken for parts. The rise in prices has caused in increase in demand for parts too, especially upgraded parts like doors and bonnets.
Owners need to be aware of where they buy their parts. Cheap parts are highly likely to be stolen and taken from stripped vehicles, whether on eBay or elsewhere. If a seller can not provide details of where the parts came from, walk away. If we stop buying stolen parts, in theory the demand for stolen parts should reduce.
Prevention is better than cure though. Ensure you can do all you can to make your landy harder to steal. Use a tracking device where possible and use more obvious deterrents like steering and pedal locks. And if it gets nicked, circulate far and wide on social media, such as Landywatch, etc.

Four more gone last night, and that's only the ones reported on Landywatch
Maybe we should petition the Police to put some more time into it, also the level of other Land Rover "keyless" thefts has reached epidemic levels.
This is costing us millions annually and it's can't be THAT hard to find out where all these vehicles are going, they can't just disappear into thin air.
Maybe it's time to start inspecting containers leaving the U.K. Sure it would cost money to employ the staff but how much money is leaving the country in stolen vehicles every week?
Someone has to pay for all this, and it's us, through our insurance.

A quick tally, that's 36 Land Rovers since 1st December!!
Similar number of modern Discovery and RR's too, and this is just on Landywatch. We all need to tighten up our security both at home and when out and about. Thieving barstewards should have their hands cut off...!

You cannot expect the police to prioritise Landy the over other thefts, sad to say. They are trying to enforce increasing lockdown rules together with other usual activity. However, some forces have their own local operations to target car crime, including Landy thefts, and will be proactive in stopping landies at night.
I would say we need to make it harder for these thefts in the first place. But I don’t think there is any harm in writing to MP’s, the Home Secretary and Police and Crime Commissioners asking what they are doing to tackle this crime. And the Landy community need to stop buying cheap parts or those where there is a question over the origin or provenance of parts and vehicles.
