Hi All

I have a defender 90 1995. Last weekend did approx 300 miles in the vehicle, and I struggled to get 3rd gear quite often, which is rare for this gearbox!
(Gearbox oil recent and up to correct level)

The following evening after doing a long trip the weekend, I had a look ontop of the gearbox, to check the bias springs and the gear selector housing. The housing appeared to be fairly worn, and I thought it was the reason I could adjust the bias springs very well.

So I ordered an OEM selector housing, and fitted it this evening, the nylon bush looked and felt fine, it's a good job because I couldn't undo the grub screw.

Anyway, new selector housing fitted this evening. Tried to adjust the bias springs in 3rd gear. So there Is no rocking of the gear stick when in 3rd. And I'm having no luck, 3rd gear wobbles loads.

The bias spring bolts are fully wound into the housing, and it hasn't reduced the play when rocking 3rd gear. Am I doing something wrong? Or are the springs past it?

Any help or advise would be great. Thanks alot

Youtube Syncroworks slickshift, they have a video on how to correctly set it up
Thanks for the replies all.
That's the video I was using to do it. But my problem is, I still have too much radial play.

The video shows how to eliminate the radial play in 3rd gear. However mine doesn't, Hense posting this.

presumably you have the springs over the cross pin in the lever, then place in 3rf or 4th and wind the bolts up till they touch the springs, push lever from one side to the other and let go then fine adjust each, till lever will return to 3rd/4th alignment then wind screw down a little till any play is reduced

its a defender theres no bias plate just one large spring
