I'm assuming that the latest SIII version of the series transfer boxes is the stronger, but does anyone know (who am I kidding here - it's obvious who does know) if the box fitted to the V8 is significantly stronger, or is the major difference just the centre diff?

I'm rebuilding a standard SIII box at the moment and wondering what the most power and torque anybody has put through one is? (And worrying that LR thought that it wasn't up to the V8, and if they were beefing it up they'd add a diff while they were at it).

there are 3 types of t/box for the series, small and large intermediate shaft the large been fitted on suffix b 2a boxes on ,and the 1 ton box which has a lower ratio, so any series 3 t box will be same except the 1 ton, suffix d g/box is the strongest and best choice, ive fitted v8s to series boxes and they are fine as long as you drive accordingly ,the lt95 fitted behind v8s is a much stronger box altogether and came from the range rover the center diff was to suit the range rover so when v8 was fitted to series it got the diff too
