Hi
Got the axles on the new chassis, but having a few issues regards brakes
I've set the Landu up with the 109 brake system . Dual lines 109 master c, 11" front and old 10" 88 on the back. Problem is, The rear wheel drums bind, even with the snail adjusters on min.
The wheel cylinders are trw 1 1/4 in. With bearmach shoes.
Is it a case of just shaving a bit off st 45 degree angle? The drums are brembro so should be good quality.
Put photo on, it's strange the leading shoes don't have a spring pulling them in at top, which appears to allow the wheel cylinder piston to spring out on one side. Maybe because the cam is there .
Ps I've put the anchor plate on right way since photo

Think so
The pin for the spring is only one side.
I see I'm getting some scuffing off the drums at the top of shoes, so may try Chaffee the shoes

Do not scuff the drums, the most that should be needed is to chamfer the leading edge of the shoes ...
But centre them up first by malletting the drum ...

Still having problems
The bottom return spring doesn't seem to be man enough to pull the trailing shoe into the wheel cylinder enough. Leading shoes in tight, Hence the shoe catches the drum . Worse in reverse than forward .

your shoes arent fitted correctly when they are the pin should align with the center of snail cam

you cant either wrong side or poor shoes
The snail cam is toward the front of the Land Rover in both sides of back plates and the spring pin is on the inside, so not really sure what's happend. May be poor quality shoes like you say, what are your recommendation on shoe makes? I think these were bearmach . Thanks

its hard to say as non are genuine ,but id try another make

OK that pic hleps. The shoes have a half round that sits over the round pin at the bottom so they don't self centre so whacking the drum won't make so much differnce. The linings look like they need filing off at the ends, put a 1/2 shallow shamfer on. This reduces the area a bit but it increases the pressure on the remainder so its ok and it will wear away in use.. That cylinder must be fully in so ckeck there's not an air lock holding it out on the trailing shoe. Going forwars will push the traling shoe back but if its draggling then reversing will pull it on. I'm not familar with SWB brakes, is it designed for teh bottom pivot to float in the back plate or is it fixed?

Hi
It's fix in place the shoes rotate around it.
Will try the shammfer
The wheel cylinders a bit odd. It's a 1 1/4 inch trw so ok make. But due to the spring inside. With only pressure from a spring on the leading shoe, and the trailing shoe only having a bottom return spring, it seems to pop the wheel cylinder out the trailing side .
I've not got the axle connect to the truck/ master cylinder yet, so it may improve then.
I was half contemplating filing the top edge where the trailing shoe hits the wheel cylinders to move it on a bit?
