Series 3 overheating

Guys,
2.25 petrol. Working fine `till I had the head off. Bottom pipe cold. Dial in the red. Have had the thermostat off. Tested it in saucepan (amongst the kids pasta for tea). It`s opening and closing O.K. (I ran it under cold water to see). Water pump?

or a blockage somewhere. take yer top pipe oirf and back fllush the fooker

Did you put your head gasket back on the right way up ?

Ps
I would do like slob says and flush / back flush everything first just to check for blockages and to check for flow.

int it anoying when you take something apart that's working fine then it doesnt work when you put it back together

makes ya think why did ya take it apart in the first place ?

I think the heads on correctly. I `ve torqued it down and it sounds fine. I used a head gasket from haddocks ,but all the holes seem to line up. I`lltry back flushing (I`snt that what celebrities have done?).
