Evening !
So after being a Prat and damaging the existing indicator stalk over what turn out to be a fuse I have replaced it with a new one , luckily it wasn't a britpart on so it actually fits and on the steering column , I've even got all the wires connected ! The only problem I have is with the auto cancel on the indicators. After turning the indicators do cancel , however , I can hear the switch clicking several times as I turn the wheel . I can't see how I can adjust this as it has a groove on the column showing you how it should be positioned , any ideas .

Thanks

Did you fit it so the canceller was between the to lugs on the indicator switch with your wheels set straight ahead and so that the lugs engaged with the back of the steering wheel?

Blackburn ,
I don't see how I could have fitted it incorrectly , there is a ridge in the metal collar and a plastic piece on new stalk that sits in it so there's no room for error there , its just that when I turn and straighten up it passes over cancelling clip about five times so it does cancel it but then it passes over it a number of times again and theres a constant clunking noise , can't figure it out

Ok I've figured it out , if you look at my crappy drawing the arrow points to a weld where the plastic arm hits before it actually hits the metal stud which cancels it out so it actually clicks four times when cancelling rather than just the once , my previous indicator stalk cleared this as its less than a mm high , I'm assuming that the plastic just wears down over time and stops the noise

You are correct with your assumption. The noise will go away but will be around for a long time.

Ok forget what I said previously , I've been monitoring the situation and have figured out what the problem is , on the new stalk the angle of the plastic arm is too low so everytime I turn the wheel whether indicators are on or not it hits it , any ideas ? I can't bend plastic because its more than likely going to break
I've attached two picture , they are the best I could get showing the difference between the two

The first picture is the original one , the second is the new one with the narrower gap

The gap between the cancel arms and the main part are much smaller on the new one can you glue a piece of plastic to one side or other to make it sit wider

Ive managed to sort this , I pointed a hairdryer at cancel arm until if softened and the re positioned it and let it set again , all done ! thanks for advice.

I had issues as well with a genuine Lucas indicator stalk not fitting correctly. The previous Britpart item was perfect, except I broke the horn wire. So in this case Britpart 1,,, Lucas 0
