series 3 diesel timing 1980 conflicting info

can anyone run me through the exact timing proceedure from start to finish tried all different ways and am now lost
had head off replaced timming chain kit followed haynes plus local landrover dealer no joy cheers roy

Never had a diesel myself, but there's a fairly explicit guide in the Land Rover manual - you need to make sure the valve timing is correct first 'cos you can get that wrong without too much trouble.
