Hi everyone,more info needed again,I am in need of electrical help.I have a 1980Series swb estate with a Discovery 200tdi engine very badly fitted. I am in mid restoration,refitting with new chassis and awaiting refurbished bulkhead,but trying to sort out wiring.I will have to source a new wiring harness as old one is burnt beyond repair .could some one please help with the ignition switch terminal connections and were wires go to and from thanks.The terminal spade ends are,clockwise from the switch body locating lug which fits in main ignition body. Looking at terminal end (had to buy a new terminal body prc2735)
.
No4 =6mm spade connection

No3 =6mm spade conn

No2 =9mm spade conn

No5 =9mm spade conn

No1 =6mm spade conn

At the key end of switch symbols are O. I. II. III

Hope this all makes sense Thanks Steve

Can you post a pic of your switch as mine is all 6mm spades.

Ok, my wiring diagram for Series 3 shows switch with four terminals, not five but terminal 4 has two brown wires. I'm wondering if your terminals 4 and 5 each have a brown wire? (Instead of both to one terminal). Does anybody else know for sure? Can't see the numbers on the terminals on your pic.
My diagram shows terminal 1, Brown/Red to glow plugs.
Terminal 2. White/Red to starter solenoid.
Terminal 3. White to fuse box.
Terminal 4. Two brown wires, one live feed from live terminal on starter solenoid, the other to terminal 4 on the light switch.

That switch is part number PRC2735 so it looks like you have the later 90 steering column lock fitted as it is a greater diameter than the early series 3 version.
I have a switch on my lap which I bought in error and the pin configuration is identical.
To check measure the diameter PRC2735 is approx 46mm at smallest end 54mm at outer end Original is 38.5mm diameter.
Managed to find the attached pic from the web for Lucas 162SA which is what mine has on the insulator , which may help.

Hi. Blackburn Just looked at your diagram and the terminals are the same on my PRC2735 and the large o/d diameter is 54 mm and the smaller dia is approx 47mm.As soon as I get back my bulkhead and get a new wiring harness I will try the wiring colours/terminals to your diagram. Thanks again
Is there any way I can just put a 12volt supply to terminal No 5 on switch and check power output to other terminals when turning key switch without having to connect wiring harness. Thanks
