Land Rover Classic Short Wheel Base
Series 2a 1971 - Tax Exempt.

New Glow plugs.
Rear crankcase oil seal changed
New clutch plate
Gear box & Transfer box oil replaced.
All gears work fine as does diff lock.
Starts no problem in the winter & in the warmer days.
Runs nice & cool.
There is 1 small oil leak, which I havent got round to tracing.
Silencer replaced with good 2nd hand
Axles serviced and oil seals replaced.
Prop shafts have new UJ.s
New front swivels with new steering UJ.s
5 new kingpin mud terrain tyres on LWB steel rims. Under 1000miles.
Spare wheel mounted on bonnet or rear bulkhead.
Steering track ends replaced.
Steering oil topped up.
Leaf springs - back are starting to sag. But not too bad.
Fairey free wheeling hubs
Full new electric looms.
Many new electrical parts
New battery
Wipers, horn, lights, heater etc all working as they should.
Note: head lights are on a stalk rather than the foot switch for full / dip.
12v double socket
Battery isolator
Fuel stop isolator
Bulkhead solid - has new footwells & door pillars.
Shutz stone chipped
Body work is all pretty straight. Have a few small dents. I like to think it adds character on a 40yr old car.
New seals on vents and all body work. - This is drier than my 2000 Land Rover. I can't think of any water leaks.
Sealing is carpeted so no condensation dripping down you neck.
Door bottoms are starting to show signs of needing attention in the future.
Door hinges had new bearings.
Painted in grey with Limestone Wheels & Hardtop.
Deluxe seats - passenger has some black gaffer tape on a rip.
3 pt. seat belts.
Middle seat removed in favour of a cubby box. It is still present.
Rear tub has had bench seat fitted in the past. I have one which is not fitted.
Many more part fitted and done during a restoration 18 months ago. I'm only looking to sell this car so I can get an off-road toy. This is too good to be abusing. However I do love this car and it doesn't sell, I would do the following:
Address the engine oil leak.
Rear springs, maybe change to parabolics.
Fit an overdrive.
Address the bottom of the door channels.
Fill with diesel and enjoy.
This is an old car, the engine is non-turbo but it has a great character to drive. Don't expect a flying machine. It's bouncy and noisy, so no stereo. I can sit happily on a motorway at 55mph, but don't expect to be clocking up much more.
I've tried to keep the car as close to original. The engine & electrics are an upgrade. You may prefer to fit wing mirrors on the door hinges rather than the wing's. The landy has the luxury upgrade of sun visors!
Car is currently at my house Dalry N. Ayrshire. 30mins from Glasgow.
Viewing possible by arrangement here or at my work Ardrossan
