Morning,

Looking to buy a Series 2 HT,

Found one locally for £2000, it has an MOT, but it looks seriously rough in the pictures the owner has sent,

Going to look at it tomorrow,

Is there anything I should be looking out for ?

Judging by it exterior, it was blue (very little paint left) and its apparently petrol,

Knowing little about S2's let alone petrols, whats the rough cost of keep up/restoration (I know its like asking how long is a piece of string but just asking for a guide line)

Would it be a wise project and keep it or sell it on ?

Thanks, like I said, I have little to no knowledge of series vehicles,

Might still have a look at it, might be tax exempt by the time I finish with it lol

Mines a 76 and I wouldn't pay 2k for it  (But then some people might say I'm cheap :D

I've restored/ rebuilt mine (still not finished though) and cost so far is about £600-700 I think this is including a full engine rebuild with new rings, seals, bearings and gaskets

Depends. Might just be rough round the edges but be strong underneath in which case many would argue it is worth 2K. Look out for rust, saggy springs, worn tyres, slack in steering (they shouldn't have too much play) and everything else that wears out. Unless you are looking for a project, in which case a project 1976 vehicle is not worth that anyway.

Cost of upkeep? Most parts are cheap and most parts are available. Try looking at the regular suppliers to give you an idea.

are you sure it's a S2 ?? it would more likely be a 2a and if '76 registered it should be ex-military

the problem also is it could be a '76 S3

you really need to learn a bit more about Series landrovers before jumping in with 2k of your hard earned as they can often be described/sold as one thing and turn out to be something completely different (don't ask me how i found out  )

and for 2k it's needs to be in pretty good condition regardless, a rolling resto maybe but solid in all the essential places
