Series 1 Early Wiper Motors

Hiya,
I have a Series one landrover Wiper motor, the silver one with the pull out handle and made by lucas.
I dont seem to be able to get it going, cleaned all the terminals, but the mchanism wont budge, so i cant re coil it.

I was wondering if there is a nack to it, or
Does anyone have any of these for sale, or know were i could get one!!!!
i am desperate, as i have an MOT, i need the wiper motor!

Not quite what you asked but there used to be single wiper motors marketed for the rear window for various vehicles , you could probably use one of these and just wire a switch in the line to turn on and off. A good thing is they are more powerful than the oringinal, and can use a better arm with more down force. HTSH

Have you re greased the gear box?
Water runs down the shaft and in through old rubber seals to the gear box where it doses no good.
Also the switch can go a bit intermitant (Crud on the contacts).
The series 2 moters do come up on e-bay from time to time but if you need one fast try calling Dunsfold or the landrover orphanage.

Someone else maybe able to answer this "Do you need a windscreen wiper on such a old landy"?

It was sometime in the 1950's that they became law wernt it, hang on, lets ave a look...

Ah, rule changes to MOT in 1975. If they are fitted to a vehicle they have to work. Remove the wipers and say they were not fitted to your vehicle, they were an option.
