this seems like a common but still unresolved issue not just for my Defender which was built in 2002. It's been a few times that I've broken down due to the acceleration not working any longer and me having to crawl home to a garage at 10mph or being toed to my garage by the AA. Now that the pedal and sensor have been replaced by a brand new one - the problem hasn't been resolved. My mechanic is at the end of his wits. Suggesting me to take my car to have the SUV reprogrammed by a LR dealer. Any better suggestions out there?

Having a diagnostic fault code check would be helpful it may show an area to investigate.
What sort of driving are you doing when it happens?
Are you traveling in traffic, towing a heavy trailer, driving up a steep hill, traveling at speed.
Can you describe just how it feels prior to what seems like going into limp home mode.
Any further information may be helpful.

Might not be throttle pedal at fault, could be fuel issue (pump or filter) = lack of fuel = no throttle reponse.
This is the hardest part of modern diagnostics, interpereting what the machine is telling you and more importantly what is causing the code.
