I'm flogging my Peugeot van and picking up a second hand 110 Hard Top next week - my first venture into Land Rover. I'll be using the truck every day in my job as a builder but I'm a little concerned about security of the vehicle and contents. Can anyone advise on decent lock replacements or additional locking mechanisms to deter theives. Also, what about immobilisers, steering wheel locks, etc?? Oh yes, and roof racks that can accommodate 8x4 ft sheets - my van has a Trukrax and they do one for LRs but are there any other good ones for Defenders? Oh god, should I have kept the Peugeot van....??

Dont be silly, of course you should not be keeping the poo**** van.

As regards security, after loosing a defender with retro fit alarm/immob a few years ago to some scrotes that didnt fancy paying for one, we decided to have a monitored tracker fitted.
Which was not much more cost wise than alarms, and locks etc.
Very good piece of mind wherever you are, and discounted insurance to boot.

Not too sure about 8x4's on the roof though, sounds like a ball ache to me.
If you cant get the use of a trailer, could you get the builders merchant to drop em off.
