Freelander 1 Second of two emls

Hi have got the second of two emls come up on dash of my 2004 td4 commercial. On the way back from my friends I got the second eml come on. It is the engine light with exclamation mark in centre of it. Does anyone know what this light refers to. Have tried to run a diagnosis using an elm 24 obd2 transmitter to eml software loaded on to phone. Either it cannot connect or fails to read ECU. Engine is performing as though someone has dropped a v8 in under bonnet. Have some serious boost now and performance is very much improved. Baffled as an eml should reduce not improve performance.
