Seat belts

Hi - I am thinking of getting a 1987 defender 110but was just wondering where i stand on seat belts. Can i carry people in on the bench seats in the back on the highway without belts or will i need to fit them. If so are they easy to fit or is it somthing best left alone.

The DVLA say that if seatbelts aren't fitted they don't need to be worn, my dads taken us to school in the mornings with three folk in the back before. It's a bit cold on yer bum in the winter on the cold aliminium, so seets might be worthwhile for comfort if anything else, or ply lining may help, hope this helps.
