My god its annoying - I understand why it is there.
But it chimes in a nano-second.

Which is a pain because I don't put a seat belt on till I get to the end of the drive because of a gate.

Anyway.

In the Lotus - I just unplugged a switch / connector under the seat to sto pthe beep but keep the light on the dash.
Is there an easy way of doing this for the Freelander? (no I don't want to but a clip in the hole!)

Or is it an A*seache.

PS: I know about the 10x clicks way of stopping it - but really - I'm not doing that :)

That's the only way to stop the initial chime. That was the first thing I did when I got my D3.
You'll still get the seatbelt when moving chime as far as I know.

You can't unplug the buckle sensor as it will flag a fault. ;)

It could be worse. Our Kuga has belt sensors for all 5 seats and chimes when any are unbuckled.

Hang on a minute. Does the 10 clicks thing stop it forever - or does it need doing each trip?

It stops the ignition on belt warning only. I don't believe you can stop the belt warning while in motion. It didn't on my D3 anyway. An advanced diagnostic tool might stop it though. I'd give Gap Diagnostics an email to ask if there IID will do it.
