best thing is to check the obvious things like lights, washers!? and brakes - then take it for an MOT - fir £35 (depending where yu are) - yu get a comprehensive list of jobbies to do. After that lot its up to you - you can decide if its too much or take it on.

More like £50.35 for an MOT MHM. Still a good way of finding out what s wrong though. Or if you feel confident, you could put it through an 'MOT' your self. There is a manual here UKMOT.com, MOT guide which I use for my S3. And before you all gob off I have a FL as well.

Pete, you have your £300 in parts anyway mate, you cant lose. If it fails the MOT and the other half can't cope with Scrap Heap Challenge then break it for parts, you will be surprised how much you make.

Price varies depending who yu go to - I wud still say its money well spent - its difficult without ramps etc to check everything yoself, particularly emmissions - and they check the registration - what if its been scrapped - with no legit V5?

I agree James, it looks ok, but so many S3 do from the outside. What I meant was if he cant get it back on the road, for whatever reason, he has his money in parts.

It must have ended up at the scrapie for some reason though!

Maybe yes. Some folk dont see the potential in things though and dismiss them too early. I obviously havent seen the vehicle, but my S3 was a heap, chassis cracked in several places and it had 9 months MOT left:eek: . If Pete is confident and his wife is of the understanding type;) , a few hundred quid would maybe see it back on the road in all it's glory.

well chasie looks solid so does bulk head and the engine is quieter than my pejero im drivin now when igot her home idrove her on the garden (i warned the naighbors because i expected her to black the street out but she didnt ) thats all ive drove her .the interior is scrap ie totaly rotten and mouldy because rear glass missin one side and door top on passenger sidedoor rotted of o and door seal all rotten so i think shes not bad for age still got to convince wife though:)
