I am new here! (hellloooooooo!!) :)

I'm a simple girl.......I have just taken possession of a 2005 V6 HSE 2.5 Freelander and need some help trying to locate the bit that clips on to the front of the sat nav / audio unit. It is so expensive to buy from LR and I can't seem to find one.

Can anyone help me please?!.....I need some sounds.

It does have a changer under seat and it is a genuine part that came with vehicle, as have all the books and this is one of them.

Here's living in hope!;)

This is just a tad suspicious, do you know what happened to the original ?, if you don't I think it would be a good idea for you to check that this isn't a stolen vehicle you have taken "possesion" of.

Hi Matacaibo.....don't worry...it isn't stolen, has full SH and everything is legal! Just has a lost sat nat/audio front! :)

Hi Leemx1, thanks for the tip, I will have a look on Ebay. Cheers! :D

Hi Leemx1, I have had a look on Ebay, but can't see anything. If I post a photograph tomorrow in my Album, could you tell me what to look for? Sorry to sound dumb....but finding it a bit confusing as to what I am looking for now?

Thanks :D

do you mean just the removal security flap = pictured below ?

If so I think you will struggle to get just one of these at a cheap price - I would try to find a complete unit via ebay - they normally go for upwards of 100 notes though if guaranteed working. There is also the very slight possibility that the two units are "paired" together for security reasons - if I get the chance I will check this.

If you have lost the security code it is simply an algorithm based around the serial number on the back of the becker - and you can find them by on the web or have them mailed to you for a couple of quid so don't spend much on that.

The model number of the freelander one is:

BECKER TRAFFIC PRO BE 4765

If you google this you can find the manuals etc.

Do you have the map cd ?

Finally if you get the unit going and like it, buy one of these from some chap in china - the gps aerial is prone to failure in the freelander - this one even works inside the car - might as well get one now whilst they are available and so cheap.

I would be inclined to save all your money for the head gasket failures which will soon occur in your V6 as it's a rover engine...

A cheapo sat nav on ebay is cheap enough :p

first you cannot use the radio without it
second it is coded to the unit
i have two and have tried
so a new head is required now if you can find one you should expect to pay apx £200 to £300 for one

service repair from land rove £1300
new £3000
and they dont have either

i was lucky to get my spaire one from land rover as i thought my unit was kerfunked but it was not just needed to upgread the soft wear
if i can help give me a shout

There is actually a seperate Land Rover part number for the front flap so I guess it is available seperately in exchange for lots of beer tokens.

Thanks TimUK. I have tried to upload a picture to my Album but it wont show them....grrrr. Here is a link on Ebay at the moment, can you look at it please and tell me if it is all I need:-

BECKER TRAFFIC PRO BE 4765 Sat Nav/CD/Radio Land Rover | eBay

Also, I am going to try and upload a photo here on this thread and, if it anyone is able to see it clearly, it is the bottom pic with the hand holding the front piece that is missing!

I don't have a code, but this is okay to get TimUK? It all seems very confusing to me. If I purchased the on on Ebay (link as above) will it just be the piece that comes, and then I just click it in?....and it works? (I hate technical stuff!).

Thanks too Lee....your help is advice is appreciated.

If you buy the one if ebay.....you'll be getting the complete unit with removable fascia.
It comes with the codes, gps antenna and discs.
Just remove your old head unit and swap it for this one.

Thanks :D

Do I have to take it to a 'specialist' (bearing in mind I don't do anything technical at all...change a plug....mmmm just about that!).

Thanks for your help guys ;D

The ebay listing claims to have everything - almost too much - aerial, ipod lead etc.

Installation is easy - you need a removal tool to get the old one out - the ebay listing claims it has one - if not a couple of quid on ebay or a tenner from halfords. Take a photo of the old one with all the cables in just in case but I don't think they can be plugged in wrongly.

Once installed you enter the security code and then have to calibrate the unit - but this just takes a short drive.

If you have a facelifted freelander with space for a 2 din radio - you will know if you do because you have a small empty shelf thingy right under the existing radio - I would consider instead buying a non landrover sat/nav radio like this:

Erisin ES708G 7" 2 Din HD Sat Nav Car DVD Player GPS | eBay

as £200 is a lot of money for the old landrover unit for what it will do.

Hi TimUK,

Thanks very much for your ultra helpful advice and links!

Yes, it does have a shelf underneath!

I will definitely consider this one....all singing...all dancing gadget!

Thanks again :D
