Anyone know of a Santana Dealership in the north of England?
I like the look of these things and the costs look good too, Looking to spend upto 6 grand for a good long wheel base towing vehicle.

also any pointers on what i need to look out for on the santana would be greatly appreciated

Cheers:D

They're seriously crap!
But anyway, Exeter Diesels had a job lot of 06 plate Utility Wagon type ones from a Utility Company. Dunno if they've got any left though.

Why are they crap?
most of the vehicle looks like a defender and dont they share lots of parts?

I know this will come as a surprise to a pasty muncher but Exeter is not generally considered 'North England'.......:p

They're leaf sprung and have a very very harsh ride and spartan interior.
Since LR withdrew from their agreement with Santana (in the early 90's?) there are no longer any common parts.

They do have good engines though - the 2.8 TGV version of the 300 TDi, made in Brazil.

so because summit looks like summit else you assume its good:der:

here we go!
another smart arse

no i never assume anything! thats why im asking the qustions on here!

and yes this is a landrover Forum. and santana has a long landrover history!
what i want to know is ( where can i get a good one from, and what are the main issues?)

Rant Over

I've never driven one or even seen one in the flesh, but I've been told they're ****e.

All I know for sure from pictures is that they look rather like slightly creased inflatable LR defenders - the sort of thing that military intelligence of WWII might have employed to try and fool an enemy pilot at a several thousand feet that the army was present in greater numbers at a particular location than was actually the case.

Which would be great until the damned thing blows away like an empty paddling pool.

But it's your choice man. I don't know - go and test drive one. If you like it, knock yerself oot.

....and good luck :)

Many thanks Trewey

yes i had heard they were still leaf springs but i believe they are also Parabolic( what ever that is?)

yes engine and gearbox are landrover variants( i think)

Its for the missus to do the odd bit of towing, and for throwing the dogs in when i go shooting,
gonna have to test drive one and compare it to a defender.

thanks again:)

My neighbour has got one (and 2 Series II Landys). It's seriously agricultural!

I drove one about a year ago and seriously mate it was ****e. But each to their own! Horses for courses and all that. I'm on the Wirral near Liverpool and there's two for sale by me- ill get you the number tomoz if you want?
There was one on eBay last week with a very honest owner- maybe one of the more technically gifted members on here could do you a link!
Just my opinion but for £6000 you could get a nice 110 I'm sure!

cheers,
im getting put of the idea of one very quickly .lol

will continue to look , but will also be looking for a good 110 at same time.

From memory it is series suspension and there were lots of reports of chrome balls rusting on swivel hubs.

Engines are iveco, seat box is not there and there was a test between this and a land rover off road and suggestion the santana was knobbled.

It is also Iveco Mastif I believe
