Like many others, I am confined to barracks on pain of death and am about to replace the transfer box front seal and the Salisbury pinion seal.
Thanks to the excellent post by Trewey on the transfer box seal I don't anticipate too many problems, thank you Trewey!
I would appreciate any advice based on your experiences that would prevent me making mistakes.
Likewise, with replacing the pinion seal on the Salisbury diff any useful observations and warnings of pitfalls would be really helpful.
My vehicle is supported on 4 axle stands and I was wondering if having someone applying the brakes ,with the engine providing servo assistance ,would be enough to prevent rotation when I apply pressure to the large nut via the breaking bar.
I do not have the made up bracket bolted to the flange I have seen on YouTube video.
If you are able to provide guidance I will be most grateful.
Thanks for your attention,
Graham

brakes wont help youll need a long tool made upto lock the flange, nut is very tight ,theres a thin gasket behind seal and when retighten nut you will need to set the pinion preload

Thank you James, I'll look at making one up or asking round. Iwas going to Mark the flange and nut and count the revs. I'm going to have to give this job some thought....

that would be a very poor idea, once free play in flange is removed ,tighten a little then test rotation preload, theres enough back lash to feel that
