I am just about to reasemble the flange to the axle, having replaced the pinion seal, and notice that the securing nut is plain and much lower in profile than it's nyloc equivalent on the transfer box who's seal I am also replacing.
This is what came off so I assume it will be fine on its return if I carefully follow the excellent advice I have received.
My question is whether it will be tight enough with the very small additional rotation I plan to make when the flange end float ceases, or should I source a nyloc substitute.
Thank you in advance for you attention to what is probably a daft question.
I am not going anywhere soon and am enjoying working on my vehicle and will be overjoyed if it is leak free and works!

thats a steel offset locking nut far tighter grip than a nyloc as youll find out refitting it
