Are series 3 88" cappings the same as a Series 2, as in are the rivet holes in the same place.

i can't answer for sure but i would think they're pretty much the same parts.
however i replaced my rear corners, the panels either side of the back door, with ones with tailgate latches on, and i found the the holes did not line up at all.
Made me think that they were drilled onto the body rather than pre drilled, meaning they might all be different.

The Series 3 cappings on the rear tub are punched on the inside, wheras the early 2's were solid.
I'm looking for some solid ones for my 59 88", Rare as hell unfortunately

Do you mean they have sections stamped out, presumably they will still fit ?

Yes they will, if the rivet holes don't line up you can drill out more

I fitted some replacement cappings to mine last year. Some holes aligned whilst others had to be drilled.
