Running on Rear Diff only!

My rear diff exploded recently! Now I have repaired it, The reason as to why it failed was because of the viscous coupling in the transfer box has jammed.. aka (locked diff in the transfer Box) And when turning sharp the wheels try to skid and the car bangs and judders .ect!

Will driving on the rear diff do any damage? I will do this by removing the front propshaft!

I drove for 3 years on the front wheels only in my old 3.9 Soft Dash when the Viscous diff seized

Incredible! I see the Viscous coupling is not cheap.....

As long as the viscous coupling is seized its ok. If you did it with a good viscous coupling it would soon be seized. My advice, for what its worth, is to get the transfere box fixed and have nice four wheel drive in the snow this winter!

I suspect a front or rear wheel driven Rangie with decent tyres will cope with 99% of British winters just fine!
