Classic RRC softdash: Can front carpets be removed without cutting nor removal of heater/ventilation unit?

Is there a way I may remove the front carpets without cutting nor removal of heater/ventilation unit on my 1995 RR Classic Vogue SE (petrol/auto)?

If not - to remove the heater/ventilation unit - does the air conditioning have to be de-gassed?

Any recommendations will be appreciated, thank you in advance.
