Perhaps someone can assist with a speedo problem on my RRC 1993 3.9V8 manual. I'm the second owner and it has only 107000kms with the odometer working OK since I bought it with 99000kms on it.

The speedo is working but the odometer is not. I tried a search over the least few days to no avail. The rev' counter does do the odd bit of a hop about periodically.

Any thoughts would be apppreciated.

Thanks

:)

Based on my own experience ('87 3.5efi) failure of the odometer is a prelude to the speedo itself developing a very 'wavy' needle, which will result in MOT failure when the time comes. I've attempted to have mine repaired but the specialist was unable to source the parts so they returned the unit to me without charge, though it did cost me £12 in two-way postage charges.
I have spoken to Speedy Cables who claim to be able to effect a repair, but I wonder if they will have any better luck with parts? Thinking about it, the fact that yours will be electrically driven whereas mine is cable may mean you have better luck with a repair.

nb. vintage speedos can be repaired as can modern digital, but the 'in-between' eras seem to be a problem.
A new, presumably aftermarket, unit is around £400 from Rimmer Bros. or Famous Four.

If I have any luck I will post, perhaps you'd be good enough to do the same?
Nice to converse with another 'proper' RR owner ;)
