...anyone know if the Rostyle steels fitted to county spec defenders are the same width (i.e. 6 inches) as the earlier RR classic ones?

Cheers,

They're in Sevenoaks and I'm not... don't know what vehicle the ones on mine came off so it wouldn't answer my question :p

Cheers,

I dont know about the earlier classic ones, but I have just measured one off a 90 and they seem to be nearer 7.5 inches wide.
Measured to the very outside edges of the rim.
I suppose the 6 inch is measured from the inside of where the tyre fits?,It does have 16x6x33? stamped in the wheel though.

If anyone is interested I have 5, complete with Michelin 205's in excellent order.

Thanks all - was hoping they were 6.5" as fitting 235/85/16 tyres to a 6" isn't highly recommended. Oh well... back to plan 'A' and buying some 8 spokes then ;)

Cheers,

Yes, the quoted width is between the beads where the tyre sits in the rim - the total width of the wheel and tyre will usually be greater than that (eg 205/80/16 = 8.07 inches)

Couldn't find anything stamped on my wheels - where abouts did you find it?

Cheers,

You can do 235/85x16 - but it's at the upper limit. Main issue is you have to use tubes with RoStyles, even if the tyres are listed tubeless. I understand that tubes make the tyres more prone to deflating when picking up a nail or thorn.

Shame really cos I think RoStyles look ACE.

Cheers Widget - just seen another set of Rostyles near me for not a lot of cash, tyres are shot but the wheels are better than the ones I have atm.

If 235/85 tyres will fit 'em then I'm more than tempted (just seen how much cheap 8 spokes would set me back with the tyres I want fitted and I ain't got the £450 spare to spend on them!)

Paddocks will sell me the tyres and tubes for around £250 which is a helluva lot more reasonable ;)

Am I significantly more likely to start popping tyres off rims or is this only likely if I'm doing more serious orf road stuff?

Me daughters 90 came on RR Rostyles with 235/85x16" BFG's that had covered over 60k on and off road with no problems.

while we are on the subject of wheels , does anyone know where i can get some bog standard white 110 steel rims from? ive got some white 8 spoke and i hate em.

If you have a look around where the centre cap is, its stamped there.
very small and hard to see though.

If anyone is interested I have a set of five rostyle wheels (6"). All have road legal road tyres on but they don't have much life left.

They are clogging up the rear of my 90 and so they are free to a good home and I can deliver around the Bristol/Gloucestershire/Wilts/Somerset area in exchange for a cuppa. Or I can take them to Sodbury.

Cheers

Ok, better to have 6.5" wheels for 235s, but I see lots of Defenders with 235s fitted to the original 5.5" steel wheels.

Why not get Wolf rims, or are they much more expensive than 8-spokes? They are certainly extremely strong and look much better.
