roof rack mountings

Does any one have a G4 roof rack on their FL1s that can post some pics of mounting points?
or for those who built their own roof rack, can you post photos of how you mounted them on your roof or of mountings used to mount on existing mounting points?
Planning on making my own but still un decided how to mount to the roof as I don't want to use the crossbars and roofbars as it would be sitting away from the roof and I@d like something that can sitt lower about 1 -2 inch max from roof.
there was also a design with measurements some where on this forum or google which I cannot find any more where it had measurements for a roofrack similar to the G4 ones. any one has a copy or link?

Remove the standard roof rails and use the OEM mounts for your roof rack?

On the one I have I got a pair of used roof rails and cut the bases and used them and have been fine since and also strong. But am looking to make another one from scratch and was woundering if I could use something else for the mounts that's less eyesore.

From memory, the G4 Challenge expedition rack mounted to the standard roof rail mounts.
This it confirmed in this drawing of the rack. The mounting points are discreetly hidden inboard of the side rails with a couple of rubber pads at the back for extra support.

I'd love one of the G4 racks, but they are hard to find and stupidly expensive.

Those Re the mounts I would like some pics of. Esp the back ones. From the pic it seems that there is a "block" spacer whick mounts in the recess where the rails mounts and then the legs mount on top of them. But couldn't find one of the rear ones.
They are crazy expensive and if i find one cheap enough, its still not worth shipping it to Malta. So going to try making one out probbably out of metal conduit. Should be easy to bend using a bender and weld using mig. And I'm not in a hurry afterall.
