Don't think that's normal? Took it off today to remove number one injector and I've got an engine oil leak that gathers on top of the steering box and backwards from there. I cannot find where it's coming from, it's not a bad leak and I suspect the viscous fan is spreading it about too. That hose is a bit soggy but it doesn't seem to be partially oily around it, I'm more wondering why there is so much oil in it really.

There is always some oil in that hose but it might be worth checking the oil separator in the cam cover.

Inside the cam cover there is a plate held with small torx screws the filter is under that and can be cleaned but getting the half moon seal at the back under the bulkhead to sit right and seal is a real mission
Half moon? Is that for the cam cover like what 200/300 tdi has.?
