I have recently started to hear a loud road noise such as a wheel bearing but on inspection all the wheel bearings are tight (no play in wheels) does any one have any other ideas of what this might be ???

A possibility is tyres. Check tyres for uneven wear, like a flat spot. Not always easily visible, but you should see it on close inspection. Normally happens on rear tyres. I had this problem. Changed tyres and problem solved.

yes as others said. . . .un make sure thems all same type if one set over 50% worn keep them to the front [its a gaylander fing]
