Hi fellow freelander-ers!

I recently bought a 2005 Td4 and am loving it to pieces. Only issue is the reverse lights are very temperemental

It seems when the engine / gearbox is warm they sometimes work, but most of the time they are not (also the PDC doesnt come on)

I have replaced the gearbox switch with a genuine LandRover part, still the same. I've checked the wiring up underneath the battery tray all the way to the bulkhead and looks ok. Fuse in the fuse box is fine. Have checked the earth underneath the left hand panel in the boot, looks fine. Bulbs are fine too as they sometimes do work!

Could this be an issue with the actual reverse gear inside the gearbox? Perhaps its not catching the switch?

Most searches on the forum bring up faulty gearbox switch, there are no other electrical issues, HDC works, rear electrics ok, brake lights ok (although i did find some water inside the brakelight lense).

Any thoughts?!

PDC or HDC?

Did you clean the multi plug and contacts on the reverse lights when you did em?

The PDC - parking sensors, I guess they are linked into the reverse lights circuit at some point as neither come on, but when the reverse lights do decide to work the Parking sensors work too.

I didnt try cleaning the multi plugs, do you mean the bit the bulb sits in or the connector that goes on to the back of the unit?

Whats best to clean it with?

Are there any other areas of the circuit that are prone for failure?

Thanks
Rob

Power for the sensors is taken from the reversing lights.
