Hello Guys and Gals, Just some Information For you !

Ive Had The Usual Rev Counter Problem, Fluctuating and in the End Dying Altogether.

A Few Weeks Later My Alternator Stopped Charging, So I though ah right Thats whats Up With the Rev Counter, So I Replaced The Alternator For New One

Its Now Charging Fine, But Still No Rev Counter

Checked The wiring As Suggested By Others on Here i Couldnt Find a Fault, But I replaced the Wire and Terminal Anyway To Be Sure, Still No Rev Counter, So now im assuming Its fried The Counter as it Died

Then Yesterday i Washed Out The Engine Bay And When i Went to Move the Car, Guess What, The Counter was Working All be it Poorly So im Assuming The water Was Making a Connection Better Due to The alternator Beinng Wet

So I removed it Today Found Thst is was Very Badly Assembled, Most Nuts and Screws Inside Were Loose, But Cleaned it up And Reassembled. As i Was Putting the Spade Connector Terminal Back on, I noticed That it Was Plastic, It Slides Over the Screw And Then Is Held in Place by a Nut, However There was No Way For a Current to Pass From The Screwthread Coming Out of The Alternator To The Actual Spade Connection.

So Ive Removed it Altogether, Changed My terminal On the Wiring for a Round Terminal One Like The Others and Fitted a New Washer and Nut and Hey Presto A Working Rev Counter

So The Moral Of The Story is, Because its new it doesnt mean its any good lol, Especially in my case as it was Obviously Assembled By Stevie Wonder lol

To add Check The Actual Plastic Connectin which the terminal is part of for continuity, You May Have The same Problems as ive had

i Hoep This Helos Someone out
Have fun
:)

One thing to note from this NEVER EVER wet an alternator.
