Is it possible (well anything's possible), and relatively easy, to retro-fit electric windows to a 2005 Defender? Is the wiring all there? Is it just a case of getting the switches and the door mechanisms?

i've crappy after marked ones on my defender. they get the window up and down but 50% slower than the factory fitted ones.

if yours didn't come with factory powered windows, you need to get the wiring done yourself. it's not like windows, plug and play.

has any one tried disco 1 mechanisms well they fit and all you need is a relay a switch fuse and some wire (improvise) its not hard

From information on another forum, it appears that the part numbers for the window regulators are:

LH - CUH000090
RH - CUH000080

and someone got a quote of GBP 76 each from:

autopost.co.uk

I guess it's just some switches, a relay, and some wiring after that.

I wonder how much of the wiring is in? Manufacturers often only make one loom (I've heard that the wiring for cruise control is all there on a Disco and it is just the switches that are needed to retrofit - maybe it's similar)

Why would you want electric windows? They'll only go wrong and it'll be when they're open and it's ****ing down:)
cos then yer kin open the winder while yer drivin along wivout bein a contortionist. very handy if yer a smoker.

I fitted em ter me 93 200TDi - very happy.
I used 2 DPNO relays for each winder - you need to reverse the polarity to the motor for up/down and I couldn't find a single relay that would do that, whilst being normally open on both sets of terminals.

no doubt daft will now prove me wrong.:)
