Hi

I have a 2001 KV6 which when driving above 20mph has a horrible resonance/vibrating feeling, a bit like if your tyres had gone square. I have removed the complete propshaft and the problem has gone. There seems to have been a leak at the front end of the prop (see pic). Is this where I should be looking for problems or somewhere else?

Thanks

Simon

If it came on quickly then the front tripod joint inside that boot has failed due to lack of grease as it has leaked out.
If it came on gradually the VCU is probably getting tight as well. See one wheel up test. This can destroy the tripod joint too.
Have a look at

Thanks - I only just got the car and it came like this, so don't know how quickly it came on. Is there a way to test the tripod joint?

If the prop is off, just pop the joint open and check the bearings. When they fail the cage breaks and the rollers fall out!!
