A couple of the light bulbs in the dash switches of my softdash have gone, the ones that do interior and fog lights, cruise control, etc. How do I go about replacing these? It's the same dash as a Disco 1, apart from these switches I think!!

Cheers!

If it's same as Disco just flick switches out and bulbs are i think T5 holders that just push in and turn.

anyone know off-hand if in the P38 window switch console are there bulbs that can be changed or is it something stupid like leds soldered on the board? before i take it out and look for myself that is! :p

Mike, bit of a long shot but I don't suppose your lights are also out on the autobox are they, i.e. to indicate which gear is selected? Not a problem for me but the missus complains about it when driving at night. If so, does anyone have any insight into the best way to tackle this (replacing the bulbs, not the missus' inability to remember which gear she is in!)?

Must admit I haven't noticed, so they're probably OK but will check next time...it's running! Currently sat up with a dead starter motor :(

I did check! Mine are out on the passenger side but OK on the drivers side so not too fussed. Let me know if it's an easy change!

Failing that, try glow in the dark paint!! :p

Dead easy. One bulb in the middle of the assembly with imitation fibre optics to each switch. P.O.P. to change.

I think the gear selector is easy enough. Just remove the trim and there is a bulb for each side. I have one side one and one off and I keep meaning to fix that.

OK, I FINALLY got round to looking into this today but didn't get very far. The switches popped out easy as pie, but how on earth do you get to the bulbs without breaking the plastic case??

On the side of the switch there are two coloured plastic screw tops, they are the bulb holders.

Aah, I saw them on the underside of the switch - so is it one for the switch light and one for the "on/off" warning light? I bet finding a bulb to fit is going to be a right PITA!!

Cheers dkl! I can't seem to get the bulbs out though, the two black plastic screw-type fitting underneath turn about 1.8 of a turn, then stop - they don't appear to be any looser, trying to turn them more just seems to chew up the heads. How can this be so difficult?! Haha!

As dkl said, on RAVE it says prise off the surround at the sides and then the rear, lift off and the bulbs are under there, looks easy peasy! Having said that, I cannot seem to get the bulbs out of the dash switches without chewing the heads up, so who knows...

I have a couple of spares which makes it easier - turn the head until it is at its loosest and then put a small blade under it and lift. They come out honest!

Ah well just changed my 2 spares into those that don't work and they still don't work. I imagine its just the bulbs. But I noticed that the bulbs may be different. Some have green bases, some brown and some black. And of course they have different coloured output - orange and green.
So need to find a source.
Here's the screenshot for the gear selector.

Let me know if you find anywhere! Rimmer Bros list several lights and switches on their site, but as I can't get into it to see the bulb, I'm yet to find out which ones I need - rather annoying! It's just the actual backlights I need for mine, the orange "on" lights all work, although I figured all the bulbs would be clear and the lens on the switch would determine the colour...
