Hello All,

Yesterday my 300tdi had a fuel leak from the injector pump throttle shaft so after a bit of research and as the replacement parts happened to be on my doorstep, I thought to myself. "I can tackle that!"

Ive reassembled it and now I cant get it to run right. Ive managed to get it to idle nicely by adjusting the max power screw but I cant get it to rev at all.

Where should I be looking?

You shouldnt need to adjust anything. I did the same job several years ago, seem to remember getting parts hooked back together while putting the top back on, I assume you havent done that so the shaft isnt connected inside

Ill stirp it down again and have a look in the morning. Unless something has dislodged itself when I put to top on, it all looked present and correct before reassembly.....

You'll possibly find the linkage rod has not engaged the governor toggle properly, it can be difficult to get the top cover on the pump if you don't back off the maximum fuel screw, to do that and maintain the proper setting simply just slightly undo the max fuel screw locknut then back out the screw until the top cover will drop on to the register ring, (dowel) in that corner.
Hook up the linkage, (the bit with the small springs and washers), to the throttle shaft into the slot in the governor toggle, at this point if you can just have the throttle shaft entered into the bushing, and as you drop the top cover back onto the pump gradually push the throttle shaft complete with new shaft seal "O" ring up through the cover then fasten the top cover onto the pump body on a new cover gasket ring. Don't forget to reset the maximum fuel screw to the factory settings, (22mm from outer end of the screw to the face of the washer below the locknut.
