Hi folks....

As some of you may know, my 12 year old a series 3 109 safari hat he would like to rebuild on a new chassis.

We have the chassis but I am unsure of the sequence in which we should do things.

The axles will come first of course.. he is rebuilding a front axle in the garage at the moment and has a Salisbury that he is rebuilding for the rear.

I am simply unsure what order other jobs should be carried out in. Anyone done this before and willing to share the order of things?

Ta....

Me.

axles but dont tighten shackles ,engine ,gear box, brake pipes, exhaust ,fuel tank/pipes,rear tub with roof dont tighten bolts on body ,bulkhead and doors ,align door gaps by spacing bulkhead with washers etc only fit front when doors body fitted fully

Is that the same one that was in the drive I saw? Sounds like progress is being made at least.

You starting a fresh with the electrics as well?

i wouldnt blame him if he did mine is about 40 yrs old half n half original and household appliance wires and extension leads nothing makes sense with the tester i have 1 earth and 20 permanent live bare ends under the dash ( in the birds nest ) and have found evidence of a loom fire in the past with a verry dodgy repair leading to me haveing an electrical fire in the engine bay and cooking the life out of me starter motor and now evrything is live even the fuel pump

id seriously reccomend anyone completely starting a fresh with the wiring :D:D:D

Sorry about that... I missed the "h" and "s" out of has in the original post. Kai says that he thinks he would be silly NOT to replace the entire loom if he is rebuilding from the bottom up. Rusty... yes that's the one/ He didn't get much time last year but has promised to crack on with the job now. His Salisbury axle is in the workshop here being stripped and having all the seals replaced.

@Jamesmartin thanks for the sequence - at least he knows what to get on with first!
