Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the top rear shock bushes need a press to get the old ones out and the new ones in please. Also apart from soaking the bolts in WD40 so they undo UK is there anything else I should look out for ?

Cheers

morning folks... I can't be the 1st to replace these bushes can i ?? any help appreciated

Ok, no you don't need a press they are only small. The DIY way is using the washer the same size as the bush, a bit of studing or a long bolt and nut and a large socket and then tighten the nut pull the bush out and into the socket.
To replace fit the bush in place and then insert the tube in the centre.

That's it,:) an easy job

I'd imagine that if the old bush's are stuck into the shock's mount then it's probably road grime or rust holding them in place and will need forcing/cutting out. As for fitting them, when I replaced the shock's/bush's (using rubber bush's) a little bit of hand pressure got the new bush's in the shock's mounts ... failing that a little lubricant (washing-up liquid) will help slide them in.

Watch out for the top mount, as they are known to snap. There are lot's of threads on here about changing shock's & bush's if you do a quick search;)

I'll have to remember this one, sounds a lot easier than cutting it out;)

Hi, yeah did a search and fond quiet a bit but nothing on if I could do the bushes by hand...if I snap a top mount is it a welding job or can I bolt a new one on...cheers
