hello,

i though that this weekend i would try and fit my lift kit, so i started with the rear and managed the drivers side without tooo much of a problem... i started on the other side and cannot for the life of me get the shock off the upper mount.

all the weight is being supported by the axles on stands... just like the hayes manual says. but i cant budge it. the shocks are monroe units and ive removed the nut and washer. been ****ing it with a hammer all afternoon, but no joy. tried prying it off with a metal bar, which bent. dont know what else to do, any suggestions? can i heat it up or something?

help!

it was stuck on the upper mount... its all sorted now. basically the rubber within the shock unit had seized onto the upper shock mount. i eventually got it off, but after fitting my lift kit, i couldnt get it back over the rubbers! so i cut them and then pushed it over.

think i should fit a larger washer now to stop the shock rolling off the mount!

what a bodge.

stay tuned as i will be fitting the fronts next weekend!

yella, what does it do exactly? does the shock move over it? i cut the outer flange part to get the metal "O" over it again. so i didnt cut the whole thing. it wasnt for the life of it coming off the bolt it was attached to. i ended up having to beat the shock on with a hammer! even after having to cut the outer edge.

so should i cut/burn the old one off and fit a pair of polybushes?

will get them photos of the lift kit on here soon yella, once ive done the fronts nxt weekend :) i drove it too work this morn and it looks like some kind of dragster!

thanks for the warning yella :)
