Well time has come to collect first born child from hospital in new 300tdi an new car seat (recaro profi plus) obviously it was to be fitted in the rear so that mommy could tend to baby on travel home. Problem came that the seat belt was ment to stretch around the front of the car seat an over too. Basically the belt is so short it will only do one or the other? Has anyone else came across this? Or are my seat belts randomly short?

Ive found this in the back of mine actually.
It will go over and round, but its quite tight to do so, and requires wiggling the baby seat at the time as well as pressing it down into the seat base, so much so I try not to take the seat out with the little one in it unless absolutely necessary.
Ive also been a passenger in the back of mine before it became mine (was my dads), and Im not exactly small, and found the seat belt much tighter in the back than in the front on me too.

I've never had a child seat on the back seat but had a coolbox strapped in ok, perhapes child seats are bigger now.

The sales brochure for my disco states extended rear seat belts, so I have measured it and there's 86inches of belt from the fixing on the wheel arch to the top loop through.

Thought id pop back an update with my solution. Turns out the seatbelts in the front are longer by around 5-600mm. So brought a front belt off ebay, popped it on and job done.

On a slightly related topic I have a few recaros too (and a few little ones to go in them:D) the biggest problem I've found is that even for a big vehicle because of the rear wheel arches if you fit the child seats either side there is very little room for the middle passenger to the extent that I have had to sit in the middle rear with both my arms outstretched either side on top of the baby seats.
