Howdy all

So I left my freebie for three days whilst out on tour, and I came back to find that I couldnt get it moved. The rear right had jammed solid. Took about 5 mins of rocking it to get it to loosen off. Sounds like the brake was jammed on or summat. Anyone any ideas why it would do that?

cheers

Had the same problem couple of years ago, replaced shoes and drums and lubricated linkages even though all were free, had no problems since. It seemed that the lining material was sticking to the drums and changing the shoes cured the problem (different lining material).

I agree - they nearly all suffer from this fault.

I'm particularly wary parking up after a run in heavy rain, or wading through floods.

Beware the linings de-laminating in which case no amount of rocking will release the bu**ers.

When temp is below freezing I just leave rely on the park transmission lock-up on the auto. On my previous manual I left it in gear.

Mine suffers from this too. It's been stripped, cleaned and greased more times than I can be bothered to remember!! I now only use the handbrake for the Mot. The rest of the time I use park on the auto!!
