hello,

My rear fog lamp has just decided to stop working and I can't seem to work out the cause of the problem. The fuse is in perfect working order as is the bulb. There is continuity through the bulb holder too. The fog lamp light on the dash no longer illuminates when the fog light switch is on either. What's the problem? I'm stumped

Ps, I have just replaced both rear light bulb holders but there doesn't appear to be any loose wires behind them etc. Don't know what I've done!

Thanks in advance for any help

What kind of fuse does it have? Glass one? If so check with a lamp both sides of the fuse holder. Sometimes the clips don’t make good contact.
It sounds like you have no live to the switch.

how do i check the switch? It's more than likely something that I've done messing about with the wires behind the tail light bulb holders. That is, if the wires to the fog lamp even run around in that little box section?

With a multimeter? If everything else (bulbs) is OK it's got to be either a short somewhere or the switch (or most likely a short near the switch!)

Does the bulb in the dash complete the circuit?
No It should only take a parallel live, so if the switch is on and no lamp on the dash (dash bulb ok ECT) it seems to have no feed.

so 12v at both sides of the switch when on, both sides of the fuse, at the posi terminal on bulb holder and a good earth, brand new bulb and still no light? if so then it sounds like my interior light lol :D

with the fog lights on early 90's etc:
give up. On both of my landys i have never made on work reliably.
But...
If it is bulb end, i.e. the bulb itself, the fitting, the earth, etc, then usually the dash light will come on and the buld won't. If the bulb dnt come on then it is usually fuse or relay or something. There is a relay for the fog light, but i have never found it, i think it is deep inside the dash by the steering column. IF you want i can take a scanning of my wiring diagram?
