The nuts on my rear door hinges are unwinding. One fell on the ground when I opened the rear door.

How do I stop this?

So. I bought new a new hinge bolt/pin kit with nylocks etc. Fitted them with plenty of grease on the ball. Nylock nuts on the top amd bottom hinges are working loose each time the door is opende and closed. ffs.

What did you do to stop the blessed things from coming off????

Is there enough threads So you Can you fit another nut on?
Use this to lock onto nyloc

Would need to be a very thin nut. Have looked at using two nuts and locking them together. Very little extra thread to work with though.

Is the thread of the bolt coming far enough into the nut to bite into the nylon/plastic of the nyloc?

Yes thread running through the nylon. However the bottom hinge pin does not sit in a deep recess like the other two pins, so the pin doesn't stick put the bottom much. Did try drilling it out, but the metal is too hard.

Wondering if peening the ends over will work. Or are the pins too hard of likely to bend if I start hitting them with a big hamer.

Whats wrong with using the original tab washers? fitted correctly the brass bush will fail before your nuts fall off:eek:

Yep, That would probably solve the problem. Sadly my hinges dont have a slot for the tab.

My thoughts are:
1, Somehow try to peen the end of the thread to stop the nut falling off. Though this won't stop it undoing most of the way.
2, Thread lock.
3, Second nut to lock against the first.
4, Buy a whole new set of hinges. Though these might have the same issue.
