Rear door hinge

has anybody had experience of replacing the hinge pins in the back door?
If so what tools are required and where did you get the pins?
Would it be easier/safer to replce the hinges?

I would say it is easier and probably as cheap to replace the full hinge the only trouble is getting them painted, in some cases as with mine they are so worn that you have to replace the full unit
